"I painted Christ's face in shadows to represent how unimportant His facial features really are. I focused instead on the markings that Christ bears. Christ's scars represent His suffering and death for the forgiveness of all of mankinds' sins. As the resurrected and living Christ shows us His scars, He also stands before us and offers His love to all who will accept Him."
