Charles Wysocki is known and loved for quaint New England villages, stout country barns, bustling
villages and seaside serendipity. But the artist will quickly tell you,
"I have wanted to paint a scene of the South for a long time. It is part of the country that seems
to maintain its dignity and hospitality. I tried for a quiet, relaxed, almost lazy scene under a hot
sun typical of that area of the country."
Cotton Country is Charles Wysocki's own special portrayal of that special part of the country.
"I tried to imagine what it would be like living in the South in times gone by, and I included
all of the things I could think of in
Cotton Country," Wysocki says. They are all there: riverboats and moss, cotton fields and tobacco
sheds, even the Southern mansion.
