Print Description:
|
Now here's one holiday feast you won't want to miss. You don't have to love cats to love
Ethel the Gourmet, Charles
Wysocki's Personal Commission print. If you like art, fun or even just food, the delights of this witty work
will be abundantly obvious.
Ethel the Gourmet
had to be a Personal Commission, because we wanted to afford all collectors the opportunity to have their own, especially
after an overwhelming response to Wysocki's delightful image of a cat in literary heaven,
FREDERICK THE LITERATE which sold out by the publisher in a matter of days.
"Ethel is Fred's sister," Wysocki explains. "They were part of the same litter, and we picked those two out.
We named them Fred and Ethel after Fred and Ethel Mertz, the neighbors, friends, and landlords on I Love Lucy.
"Ethel is the most inquisitive cat I've ever met," Wysocki sighs. "Fred was a sleeper, but Ethel is a busybody. No matter
what happens, she's there. You bring the groceries home; she's in the bag. You bring home clothes; she's in the box. No
matter what you bring home, she thinks it's for her, no matter what it is."
So while Frederick catnaps in his dream library, Ethel reigns over her dream pantry, with any cat's favorite foodstuffs
on the shelves around her. Once again, Charles Wysocki has used his wit and artistry to create a delightful and
hilarious image of a puss' paradise.
What cat wouldn't dream of Puffed Mice Cereal, Three Wined Mice Pickled in Grape Juice, and Uncle Toms Instant Long
Grain Wild Mice? Other quarries of the feline also have reason to quake; Ethel frolics amongst Seasoned Crow's
Feet, Catfish Chowder, and Bye-Bye Birdie Pies. All you have to do is read one of the product labels, and off you go on
a hilarious shopping spree.
Siblings in reality, Ethel and Fred are also partners in print, and ETHEL THE GOURMET is sized to be the purr-fect
companion to FREDERICK THE LITERATE. Whether you keep them together, or in your own libary and kitchen, these delightful
Wysocki prints are a feast for lovers of cats, humor, and art. |
