Charles Wysocki recounts, "When my wife Liz was a child on a ranch in the
San Fernando Valley, she was serenaded every morning by hundreds
of birds in a Eucalyptus tree outside her window. The colorful birds of many
species were fun to watch, but the loud, constant chorus became a study in perseverance for the whole
family. This tale presented me with a picture to be painted, along with a poem which takes
the side of the birds."
