"I think Merritt and Chandler will join in the celebration of
my new painting. After all, I honored the birth of my first two daughters
with paintings of romantic cottage retreats. Now, for the birth of my
beautiful new baby, Winsor, I'm working on a larger scale. Winsor Manor
is a magnificent structure, with grounds so spacious that it takes three
coordinated paintings to encompass the grand design.
We enter from the left, through the floral opulence of
Rose Gate.
Two ancient stone columns guard the entrance; a weathered copper plaque
bears the crest of the manor, an interlocking 'W&M.' A heady perfume wafts
our way on the gentle morning breeze. The distant left wing of the great house,
shrouded by the lavish flowers of spring, invites us to stroll the garden
path. We have an appointment to spend the day in Winsor Manor.
You may well want to enjoy the full expanse of my daughter's imaginary
kingdom in the festive trio:
Rose Gate,
Winsor Manor, and Lilac Gazebo.
Or you may content yourself with the romantic welcome of
Rose Gate.
