Bernard Plockhorst was a painter of portraits and historic scenes. He was born in Brunswick March 2, 1825. Plockhorst studied in Munich and was a professor at the Weimar Art School.

Plockhorst is best known for his painting The Good Shepherd which he painted in the late nineteenth century and was widely distributed during the beginning of twentieth century. He died in 1907.
