"This image seems to have undertones of both comedy and pathos. I don't know if I've figured it all
out. The stick becomes a scepter, and the bent keys, symbols of obsolete power. The onion becomes an orb, an
ancient symbol of sovereignty. Its sprout may mean rebirth. Mythologically, a single wing means someone
lost in a dream. Yet a pelican has chosen to build a nest on him, which seems symbolic of his purposefulness.
