Print Description:
|
"In my work, it is
my desire to present the viewer nothing more than a
visual interpretation of Scripture. I try to fill each painting with
as much symbolism as possible. In this special edition of In the Beginning
allow me to tell you what I intended to convey with those special touches
within the painting. I tried to represent night and day as if the
universe was still beaming with the newness of God's touch.
This is why the upper part of the painting looks like night time,
while the lower part appears like day. The hand of God is beginning
to pull Adam from the dust, as he lays lifeless in the shape of the cross.
I make a conscious effort to make the cross the most important element
in my paintings. It's my way of reminding us that it is our pivotal
connection to God.
"I decided to make birds fly across the hand of God in colors of a rainbow.
The red one flying across the palm signifies that God knew, even at
that moment, about the nail print that would someday be put into the
hand of His only Son. If you look closely at the stars, you will see
that each one contains a little fetus. It is my commentary on the
abortion crisis in our world today. Isaiah 40:26 says, 'God brings out the
starry host one by one, and calls them each by name.' For this reason,
I believe that surely He would know the name of every child He forms
in the womb of every mother. Take time to relate these symbols to your
children so that they will identify them each time they look at the work.
Perhaps then they will begin to internalize the valued possession they
are of God's, yours, and others."--- Ron DiCianni
