Now Jesus went into a city called Nain; and many
of His disciples went with Him, and a large crowd. And when Jesus came near the gate of the
city, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his widowed mother. And a large
crowd from the city was with her. When the Lord saw her, He had compassion for her and said
to her, "Do not weep."
Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried
him stood still. And Jesus said, "Young man, I say to you arise." So he who was dead
sat up and began to speak. And Jesus presented him to his mother.
While Jesus was on the
mountain, great multitudes came to Him, having with them the lame, blind,
mute, maimed, and many others; and they laid them down at Jesus' feet, and
He healed them. So the multitude marveled when they saw the mute speaking,
the maimed made whole, the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they
glorified the God of Israel.
Nazareth.
And the disciples said to
Him, "We have only five loaves and two fish." Jesus said, "Bring them here
to Me." Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He
took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He
blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples
gave to the multitudes. So they all ate and were filled, and they took up
twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained. Now those who had eaten
were about five thousand men, besides women and children.
