The purpose of our awards is to recognize outstanding website achievement and provide much-needed encouragement to website designers as they continue to strive for excellence in proclaiming the uncompromised gospel of Jesus Christ on the Internet.

Judging Criteria

Our judging criteria is extremely rigorous and a challenge to even elite web page designers.

In order to win one of our top awards (Bronze, Silver, and Gold), one must have an exemplary website which reflects only the highest standards of excellence.

Please don't be discouraged if you do not receive one of our top awards or receive an award not to your liking. Remember, you are promoting the gospel of Jesus Christ and that in itself is the greatest reward!

Websites are evaluated using a 100 point scoring system, and stars are awarded according to the total score received.

We review sites based on the following five criteria: originality, functionality, design, content, and professionalism.

Originality (/20)

Your site will be judged for creativity, distinctiveness, innovation, technology, and vision. Our judges will be looking for the following:

1. A website that is original, creative, elegant, and sophisticated.



2. A website that is so unique that it evokes an emotional response and leaves a lasting impression.



3. A website that is cutting edge and offers clever, forward-thinking solutions.



4. A website that uses advanced programming technology such as Active X, CGI scripts, CSS, and JavaScript as well as streaming media such as RealPlayer, RealVideo, and Flash Player.



5. A website that has the necessary framework for growth and expansion.

Functionality (/15)

Your site will be judged for accessibility, HTML quality, legality, navigation ability, and sensitivity to bandwidth and speed. Our judges will be looking for the following:

1. A website that is compatible with all 4 major browsers (Microsoft Explorer, Mozilla, Netscape, and Opera) and can reach a universal audience with multilingual translations.



2. A website that contains clean HTML code, browser compliant Javascript, and effective titles and meta tags.



3. A website that only contains legal content or activities and does not infringe upon international copyright laws. All artwork, intellectual property, music, and quotations which are not original must be cited appropriately.



4. A website that maintains link integrity, is easy to navigate, and contains quality Christian links.



5. A website that contains above average download times and keeps page lengths at a reasonable level.

Design (/30)

Your site will be judged for aesthetics, graphic design, integration, layout, and user friendliness. Our judges will be looking for the following:

1. A website that is aesthetically pleasing and has a nice color scheme.



2. A website that contains legible text and quality graphics.



3. A website that has a unified feel and a reinforced purpose throughout.



4. A website that effectively utilizes tables for text alignment and has a proper balance of white space.



5. A website that has a simple, clear, and easy to use interface.

Content (/25)

Your site will be judged for accessibility to information, detail, interactivity, purpose, and verbal expression. Our judges will be looking for the following:

1. A website that contains a substantial amount of content broken down into short well-structured paragraphs and provides a FAQ page, search box, or site map for visitors to get around the site quickly.



2. A website that is void of errors, inaccuracies, incongruities, and outdated material.



3. A website that provides at least 2 of the following features: a chat room, guestbook, newsgroup, newsletter, and poll.



4. A website that was created to glorify God rather than boast about oneself. The site should boldly proclaim the gospel of Jesus and contain a biblically sound salvation message to the lost. The site should contain original Bible-based content for the purpose of edifying and teaching others. In addition, the site should contain other useful information, offer something of value to visitors, and give people plenty of reasons to return. There should be no conflicting messages on the site.



5. A website that is void of repetition and displays proper use of grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

Professionalism (/10)

Your site will be judged for advanced programming components, customer service, effectiveness, focus, and values. Our judges will be looking for the following:

1. A website that utilizes active server pages and/or dynamically generated pages, an e-commerce solution with shopping cart, and a secure server.



2. A website that provides a simple and easy way to contact customer service, manages complaints and requests in a timely manner, and contains a testimonials, privacy policy, and return policy page.



3. A website that contains its very own domain and traffic counter.



4. A website that is not loaded down with clashy banner advertising and popups.



5. A website that only adheres to the highest standard of business ethics and does not misrepresent itself when advertising. A site which offers an array of free services to benefit the general public.

Total Score (/100)

After we tally up all of the (above) scores up, you will get a result out of 100.

Extra Credit (/5)

You will receive 1 additional point for each of the following:

1. A high-quality, unique logo.



2. An awards and endorsements page.



3. An autoresponder.



4. A Google page rank of 2 or more.



5. An Alexa traffic rank under 1,000,000.

With up to 5 additional extra credit points, you have the chance of receiving a total score of 105!

Rules and Requirements

Before applying for one of our elite website awards, we ask that you carefully read our rules and requirements.

1. Winners of our top awards (Bronze, Silver, and Gold) will automatically be linked on our Winners' Circle page. Winners of our other two awards (Blue and Green) will have their website mentioned on this page but not linked.



2. Winners of a Christ-Centered Award MUST link back to this website. Failure to comply will result in immediate link and website name removal from our Winners' Circle. We do visit award winner sites regularly.



3. The Christ-Centered Awards are lifetime achievement awards. We do not issue new awards each year.



4. If you wish to reapply for a higher website award, you may only do so after six months of receiving an award and only after substantial modifications have been made.



5. If you nominated your website for a Christ-Centered Award, and you do not receive a reply from us after three months, you may reapply for an award.

Christ-Centered Awards

Below is a detailed description of the five Christian website awards specifically given to deserving Christian websites and ministries on the World Wide Web.

Blue Award to

The color blue symbolizes the Word of God, truth, authority, and God revealed. This award is given to websites which receive a score between 56-65.

Green Award to

The color green symbolizes freshness, vigor, and growth. This award is given to websites which receive a score between 66-75.

Bronze Award to

The color bronze symbolizes the fires of testing. This award is given to websites which receive a score between 76-85.

Silver Award to

The color silver symbolizes strengthened faith, purity, and wisdom. This award is given to websites which receive a score between 86-95.

Gold Award

The color gold symbolizes trial by fire, righteousness, and purification. This award is given to websites which receive a score between 96-100+.
